What Matters

Why do I worry about the size of my hips?
There are many more important things
Like the health of a loved one or me
Why do I worry about the size of my house
Or the brand of my clothes?
They have no holes and are clean
The car that I drive or what others see?
I can see, hear, feel and smell
The food that I have, to cook and eat
And the love that flows in my air
Why do I worry about these things?
Turn down the volume of the curious
And listen to the important ones
Dance to the music of what matters
Life isn’t a competition but an experience

  1. This is good Debbie. When I got cancer and ended up blind and in a wheelchair, those things mattered to me not one jot. I like this poem for its truth.

    1. Thank you. These were exactly my thoughts this morning. Yes, it is nice to have the pretty things, but at the end of the day those are bonuses if we have our health, friends and loved ones and somewhere to call home.
      Have a fantastic day.
