Captain of My Ship

In languor I succumbed
To the pounding waves
Thrashing my body around
Like a ragdoll with no will
I allowed the sea to control
Accepting a fate of drowning
This life too much to fight
I surrendered to the wind
But it did not suck me under
Nor blow me further out
Once I relinquished my grip
Told the Universe
To do with me as it would
It smiled down on me
And washed me in to shore
Once I stepped down
From the helm
I was guided home
To my purpose
To my soul
To my reason for breathing
To all that should be
I just needed to sail
Not be the captain
Of my ship
For the wind and the sea
And the might of the ethereal
Have it covered for me
