A Quiet Love

Snow white feathers falling softly
Whispered secrets tickle eardrums
A different love from what you’ve seen
You silently watched outward shows
Of blatant loud announcements of affection
While you held my heart within your grasp
I took for granted your trusted friendship
Your subtle care glossed over
Until your shoulder provided me comfort
From the tears I shed for another
I learned those arms are attached
To a heart of utter gold
I’d overlooked the man before me
The one who was always meant to be
