They Were Rhino

Your scarcity is noted
Absence amplified
By the men walking
Where wild animals roam

In the green uniform of war
Armed to defend and protect
They cast a curious glance
To all who pass their way

Blood spatters splashed
On these sacred grounds
The cry of orphaned young
Cruelty beyond comprehension

Hunted and butchered
For a false magical medicine
Claimed from the powder
Of your sword of self-defence

Possession proof of wealth
To win a possible bride
Lack of one to wed
Another result of folly

The battle ongoing
To curb your extinction
News of your demise
No longer a splash on the page

Our tears pool at the possibility
Of our children never knowing you
Now splash the earth below us
At ANOTHER loss
