Where You Fit

There are pieces that fit together
To make a coherent picture
Of these days that I breathe
You are a significant chunk
Of the bits that make up my life puzzle
Important to me by choice
But as the wisdom of age develops
There is are facts that I learn
No matter the gravity of the role you play
My happiness cannot depend
On the colour of your fragment each day
For like a yo-yo or grass in the wind
I am exhausted by the blow of your mood
That has taken me with
On each and every blustering gale
My life cannot be incomplete without you
As I need to complete it myself
And you need to be the spice
That enhances and adds to it
And I decide on how you fill your space
In the artwork of my existence
