These are the days of heavy footfalls
As the burdens weigh on my back
Disquiet churns the acids of my belly
As I hike the mountain of struggle
Breath caged in apprehensive hanging
A poetic justice for unknown crimes?
Or overwhelming life lessons?
I grasp with fingers already full
To clutch faith in purpose of the Universe
Dangling precariously
Worried that it is a wishful fantasy
Now a mere molehill in the rearview
I try to remember to believe
