Social Solitude

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “social.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

I’m not a social butterfly
I do okay within my set
But put me in the midst of strangers
More than a few
And you’d mistake me for an introvert
I don’t do well in groups
My screen, my tv, a book or my family
A friend or two and I’m as right as rain
I love company and to have a chat
But my years have brought a wisdom
The joy of solitude and its necessity
I often crave it now
Shying away from gatherings
The simplicity of silence
A peaceful place to be
And I a suitable companion
To share this special time with me
