I roil and revolt
Turbulent in trouble
My insides twisted
Wallowing in the mud
Of the pit I have dug
And bogged with my tears
Trapped and imprisoned
By my own swamp
Of doubt and sadness
Meanwhile
The world all around me
Continues to turn
My wishes to rest
Take a brief break from life
If only for a few moments
Met with contempt and disgust
Disdain, and pity for weakness
For the earth’s rotation
Stops for no one
The hustle and bustle
The blood rushing through
Veins of existence
More goals and achievements
Expected from us
Out of my crater
I’ll sit under a tree
Breathe and observe
Not yet ready to begin the race
Of proving my human worth
For these days that I spend
Here on this orb
Need to have meaning
To me, myself and I
I’m done with existing
For all those around me
Now I choose living for me
