Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “dough/d’oh.” Use one, use both, use ’em any way you like. Enjoy!
Confession time… I had to look up what d’oh meant. I have never come across it in all my years of reading, or I just don’t remember and glossed over it before. Did I feel stupid? No, because this is the beauty of the brain, it just continues taking information on board. Imagine how boring it would be if I knew everything… you know like many of today’s teenagers – I have one, so of know of what I speak. That ‘not listening’ stare you get because you’re boring them with this unrequired drivel that leaks out of your mouth.
The other dough I know lots about, so I’ll give you a poem on it.
Bread
Rising like my level of anxiety
At spending on the groceries
These prices filled with yeast
Continue on the upward push
Acid burns at the shopping thought
Oven heat cooking the inside of me
The too tempting aroma tantalizing
To break my restraint and give in
To shout to hell with it
Blow the budget on my heart’s desires
It is only money after all

I wasn’t 100% sure about d’oh, made a stab at it and then went on to dough. Hang in there with the teens. Oh how well I remember those days. It gets better, though still not easy, in their 20s and 30s.

Thanks JoAnna. It has already started getting a bit better, until the next one gets there. 😉
