Generator Powered

The air vibrates
From the power makers
Breathes diesel and gas
Oil lubricated metal
Shudders and shakes
Pouring energy
To the few
While the arterial source
Lies quietly dormant
Living in hope
The buzz and the hum
Will soon start again
Fear squashed down
That the line has bled
The last of its luxury
Close the thought
Of great towers
Having blown
Their last puffs of smoke
Wishing
Praying
Begging
For the light
To spark again
Still others construct
Makeshift connections
The cost borne by the paying
For a service
That is not delivered
The giant remains silent
Without truth nor resolution
Only excuses produced
But to come
With hands wide open
Demanding more
Perhaps a new day
Must dawn
