Accepting Goodbye

It started out as a fine hairline crack
But as earth continued to move
And you and I further apart
The fracture in the plaster of our relationship
Grew into an insurmountable canyon
Though still on the same continent
In the same city, around a few corners
Down some winding roads
We might as well be on different planets
For our hearts have separated
All there is left for me to do
Is accept that our lives
Are to be lived at a distance
With a little news from others
For we were only meant
To affect one another
For a little while
Then move on
