Somebody Else’s Problem

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “sap/sep/sip/sop/sup.” Use one or all of these words or find a word that contains them, but most of all, have fun!

I had no idea what SEP was until I read the Urban dictionary entry – https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=SEP. Of course, I had heard of “somebody else’s problem”. Here are a few words on what I think about adopting this attitude.

What the world would be like
If everyone passed the buck
No one helping another
Because it was
Somebody Else’s Problem
A sad place to wake up
Worse to be living in
If you knew that there would never
Be a hand when you needed one
For anything, no matter what
Each individual fending for themselves
Survival of the fittest, and all of that
Would you want to exist
In a cold, hard place like this?
Ah, but you say that it is so
Well I beg to differ
Leave the news, tabloids and doom pages
Look to the light and the good
It is happening all around us
People aiding people
Showing care and compassion
For their fellow humans and animals
The world is not lost
Perhaps we just need
To look for the greatness
And possibly help it to be
