Reprogramming

I have lost the allegiance of my loyal subject
Slapped with traitorous slander again
Buried in the judgement of reflection
Supplying disdain and contempt
For others to think
Which in truth they may not
A fickle supporter at best
For when the mirror reshapes
Love of self dissolves with the smile
Unconditional it is most certainly not
As this was not the teaching in youth
Only the deserving shall receive
The task of the adult being I am
To reprogram the falsehood instilled
For love should have no reason, rhyme or logic
Especially for the face looking back
