Go and give a little love to the old people in your life today. They need more than the money you might pay for their care, they need your time too – no matter how difficult they might have become. Someone to listen to their far off memories repeated again and the boring monotony of their days.
In the deep crevices of a long lived life
Forgotten memories skate above the hard ones
Those that etched these wrinkles in
And at the feet of the crow lie lines of laughter
Times of fun and enjoyment with family and friends
Clinging to remember in the absence of their presence
Too old to matter, too alive to be abandoned
And yet that is what has happened

I loved the line “clinging to remember in the absence of their presence”
Oh what I wouldn’t give to hear my mother’s stories again and again.

Thanks. Not only those who have passed, but a reminder to cherish those who are still living and not abandon them.
