Letting Love In

You knocked on the locked door of my heart
Insisting to come in
I warned you of the dangerous terrain
Mountains of childhood insecurities
Still you knocked
Oceans of tears for unknown reasons
Still you knocked
Caverns deep with images of myself
Still you knocked
All you needed was for me to open it a crack
Your knocking ceased
You held my hand
You let me cry
You listened to my woeful words
You built me up in little ways
You threw away that dreadful lock
You taught me how I should be loved
I learned how to love you
