Lost Herself

At the alter of love she sold her soul
Left her fierce independence behind
Forgot who she was in the depth of her
To pay homage to the man
She thought that he was
The one she placed on a throne
Overlooked his faults
Continuously made excuses for him
Took the mistakes on as her own
Lost herself, morphed into an unknown
Until the day she awoke
Claimed back her soul
Asserted her ferocious sovereignty
Grew to a more powerful version than before
Now he paid homage to the queen
The one he’d fallen in love with, but more
