Rinsing Tea Leaves

In the left hand, three turns left to right
Swirling the leaves to the whirlpool of fate
This moment in life sits at the top of the cup
The bottom holds the future we seek to know
Do we wish to find hope in the pattern of tea?
Tomorrow’s destiny blurring our focus
From dealing with today’s opportunity
Rinse to the left, rinse to the right
Rinse the tea leaves out
This moment my chance, my reality
Neither happy for what is to come
Nor consumed by worry and fear
Leaving all my other days
To the guardianship of the Universe

  1. Beautiful, Debbie! Do you leaves represent hope and prosperity in another culture? I am just not familiar with that meaning. But cool poem! 🙂

    1. Thanks very much. This is about reading tea leaves to tell the future and I think we’re too busy worrying about the future and missing out on right now – me included

  2. Hello Debbie! I agree with you. We are always planning for the future, and forget to live in the present. I am guilty as well. We always think we have more time, but tomorrow is not promised. Great post!
