Taking on Water

It is not the mind that sails away
But the heart and mind diverge
Gone mad from conflicting feelings
The head knowing what should be done
The heart turned off to caring at all
Drowned in guilt crashing on board
Run aground to inactivity by indifference
Lost in waves of sadness and apathy
Shame the only motivation for a little motion
That too begins to slip under the surface
Life a mere drifting, trying to float
Tides stronger to pull me under
To close my eyes and just sink away
