The last rays of light flickered
You fought the good fight
It was your time to bid us farewell
Our last goodnight
A final goodbye and sleep tight
Though we’d known it was coming
Nothing prepared us
For the struggle of your succumbing
To the last of the air
The concluding breath
That you gave this life
In your battle with death
