It took root in the spine
Chewed through the vertebrae
One
By
One
We don’t know where it came from
Have no idea where it started
Only found it when it was too late
Took you in less than two months
Life and time have softened the edges
Of the raw wound that you left inside
But it seems that when I’m in the time of your dying
You come back to me
A little softer every time
‘Cause I know you left that pain and suffering
Here on earth
When you said goodbye
And joined the angels
In that winter blue sky
