The Empath

Feel the blood rush through your veins
Feel the agony of those around you
Pain soaked, with none of it your own
Sink beneath the cold water surface
Cool away from all the angry heat
Comfort for a dagger riddled heart
Burnt, pounded and acid washed
All the troubles of this insane world
Every one, feeling like it was your own
In search of remedy for all that ails
Examining the symptom of dis-ease
Empathy a boulder on the chest
A twisted knife turning in the belly
A home for all the horror of this hour
Protective bubble a vital necessity
Emotions taunt each nerve ending
Feel the darkness of the sorrow
Feel the light of hope and possibility
