Walking Away

It’s with the vibration of every bone in my body
The tingle of each nerve ending
The turning and churning of my stomach
The subtleties read by my eyes
My instinct for survival persists
To hurt me would not kill me
But my senses have matured and adapted
For now survival includes protection
From injury and slight
So when I decide to walk away
Know that I am the mother bear
Guarding the heart of my inner child.
