Purpose

Time wasted avoiding that which called
I played and toyed with it in childhood
But aided and guided I moved on
To something more realistic and tangible
That which would earn a living
Stifled the frivolous and fantastic
For concrete and cemented notions
The voices quietened and faded
No place for less than focus and commitment
Working, toiling and striving for utopia,
Happiness, joy and fulfilment
Only coming in small bursts
Exposure to life and love never enough
Sadness lingers in the wings
Always ready to make an appearance
Happy to steal the whole show for a time
Unfathomable misery in near nirvana
Until in silence the whisper is heard
Beginning a search for that which was lost
Remembering that which should have been
Uncovering, unveiling and rediscovering
That which was meant to be
Richer for the deviated journey
I continue now happily following the dream.
