Overdose

I’m all peopled out
I’ve had my fill
I beat a hasty retreat
To find solitude
Time to recover
In silence and rest
My body quivers
Suffering an overdose
Of company and chatter
Little explosions
Inside of my head
Intensify the tremor
Of the anxiety grip
Madness balances the cliff
One unintentional word
Tips me over the edge
So for your sake and mine
Leave me alone and in peace
To locate my sanity
And still my unease
