To the Grave With You

Let us dig this grave,
for a prevalent relic
belonging in yesterday’s cemetery.
Fear should be buried
without a headstone of remembrance
nor any pomp and circumstance.
I speak not of that which saves us
from the galloping horse,
or the burning house,
but rather the one that stops us.
Stops us from adventure,
or even calculated risk,
stops our progress dead.
The claws of unimportant things
that strike the core of our heart,
shredding our courage
like the carcass of lion’s last meal.
Judgement, image and opinion
that we strive
to stand on the right side of,
– unimportant things,
for fear has a hand in their maker too.
Let it not be the bellringer
from the coffin of the risen,
but stomp it out like the inferno of pain,
that disintegrates dreams and goals.
Grow from its cremated ashes
and never let it stop you again.
